Thousands of dollars will be allocated to UWI Development and Endowment Fund’s bursaries and scholarships after a successful fund-raising event.

The UWI Fete Champêtre – The Garden Party was held on July 24th, 2022 and was completely sold out.

It was the St Augustine Campus’ first fund-raising event since 2020 and featured performers including Vaughnette Bigford, UWI Arts Steel, Neval Chatelal, Mical Teja, Ding Dong and D’ All Starz Band featuring College Boy Jesse and DJs Anna, Charlotte and Reecie Tee.

The university says proceeds will go towards 200 regular bursaries at $5,000 and 10 Star scholarships at $15,000.

The event was a precursor to the planned return of the iconic UWI Fete in 2023.

UWI Fete, the brainchild of Professor Max Richards who was then Principal, is the campus’ primary fundraiser.

The 2023 edition of the fete will take place on Sunday 22 January.
