Vasant: Failed attempt to disrupt meeting reiterates need for change in politics

A failed attempt to disrupt a Citizens’ Assembly meeting in Debe last night has reiterated the need for the politics of T&T to change.

Former Minister Vasant Bharath, on his Facebook page, claims that drunken individuals were paid to interrupt and stop the meeting but they did not succeed.

He adds that they only reinforced what is “wrong with our politics and why, as a country blessed with abundant resources, we find ourselves on the bottom rung of the ladder in almost all aspects of our lives”.

Despite this, Mr Bharath wrote that the Citizens’ Assembly will ensure persons get the chance to speak out on issues affecting their daily lives while educating them on the options available for a brighter future.
