WASA: harsh dry season conditions to blame for reduced water production

WASA says significantly reduced production at the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant is to blame for the irregular supply in the area.

That production issue meanwhile, is being attributed to harsh Dry Season conditions.

WASA says the Plant normally produces 23 million gallons per day, however over the last several weeks, production has been reduced to 14 mgd.

As a result, it says households at elevated points and the extremities of the distribution system are being affected.

    This includes the following areas:

    • Manzanilla
    • Malabar Phases 1, 3 & 4
    • Tumpuna Road/ San Rafael
    • Brazil
    • La Horquetta
    • Carapo/ O’Meara Road
    • Maloney
    • Five Rivers
    • Oropune Gardens
    • Golden Grove Road

WASA says water supply schedules have been amended, with water trucking services expanded to accommodate the increased demand.
