The attorney for outgoing PSA President Watson Duke has sent a pre-action protocol letter to DPP Roger Gaspard, in relation to his ongoing sedition case.
According to a Newsday article, the letter cites a comment made by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith to a local newspaper, regarding the statement for which Mr Duke has been charged.
The letter claims the words outlined by the Top Cop were not Mr Duke’s exact words, and it is calling on the DPP to advise the Commissioner accordingly.
It also claims the comments could be sub judice, since they relate to a matter that is currently before the court.
Mr Duke was charged on August 29th with making seditious statements during a worker rally outside TSTT’s Port of Spain Office in November 2018.
