Workers at Bureau of Standards protest dismissal, outstanding wage talks

Workers at the TT Bureau of Standards staged a protest today as a show of support for a colleague who they say was unfairly dismissed.

They say the firing was a breach of the recognized collective agreement.

The demonstration was led by their union, the Public Service’s Association, and aimed to highlight several other outstanding issues as well, including the settling a new Collective Agreement that is 27 years old.

They are also accusing management of abuse of power, staff intimidation, failure to complete job evaluation exercises, and inconsistencies in hiring practices and promotions.
