The Indian High Commission to T&T will be hosting two Yoga events at the Chaguaramas Boardwalk and the Divali Nagar to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.
The concept of International Day of Yoga was proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the UN General Assembly in 2014, and on June 21st 2015 the UN formally recognized the day.
Speaking at the launch of the event, Acting Indian High Commissioner Raj Kamal says the 5th annual event in T&T will be commemorated at the Boardwalk on Sunday June 16th and at the Divali Nagar on June 23rd from 6am to 8am.
He believes there are many benefits from engaging in Yoga, and is inviting all interested persons to attend.
Meanwhile also at the event was the Director of Physical Education and Sport at the Sport Ministry Patrice Charles who believes yoga can put to end to some societal problems, even in T&T.
108 Surya Namaskar is expected to be performed on both days.
