Young: Avoiding self-quarantine after travel is irresponsible

    National Security Minister Stuart Young

National Security Minister Stuart Young says traveling in the midst of the pandemic and not self-quarantining upon return is irresponsible behaviour.

This statement comes after the host of a popular crime show claimed via social media that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Persons, including media personnel who would have interacted with him, have raised concerns, since he claims to have only moved into quarantine last night.

Minister Stuart Young says it is dangerous for persons to skip the isolation period after travel.

There was is no official confirmation of this person’s claimed diagnosis, since that would violate patient confidentiality.

However Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram says anyone who is concerned that they may have had contact with an infected person should call the authorities.

The CMO and the Minister were speaking during a media briefing today.
