CONCACAF says its FIFA World Cup Qualifiers will start in March 2021 instead of this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The first round, in which T&T will battle in Group F, was scheduled to begin in October or November 2020.

However, according to CONCACAF, many parts of the region are still have “challenging public health situations.”

It notes that several countries also have travel restrictions and quarantine requirements which can make international football involving 30 national teams difficult.

As such, both football bodies have taken the decision to start the qualification tournament late.

CONCACAF says it will now work with FIFA to finalize a new schedule which will be made available to the public in due course.
