Former Windies opening batsman Daren Ganga hit 77 from 44 balls to help a ‘West Indies All Star’ side beat the ‘Antiguan Legends’ in a Legends T20 Match last evening.
The match which was played at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua saw retired West Indies players take to the field such as Sherwin Campbell, Jimmy Adams, Sir Vivian Richards, Sir Richie Richardson and even Curtly Ambrose.
Batting first, the All Stars put on 175/6 thanks to 77 from Ganga and 43 from Miles Bascombe.
In reply the Antiguan Legends treated the crowd to 46 from 16 balls from Sylvester Joseph and 31 from Sir Richie Richardson.
But they only managed to compile 151/8, falling short by 24 runs.
The Legends T20 match was put on by the West Indies Retired Players’ Foundation (WIRPF) led by Chairman Patterson Thompson.
The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) says It was geared towards assisting retired players and provided a fitting avenue for camaraderie.
