England held on to win the 2nd ODI against Pakistan by 12 runs in Southampton today.
Batting first, the home side were led by a 50-ball century from Jos Butler, eventually making 373-3.
The 100 was the 2nd fastest by an England batsman in ODI cricket.
Jasoy Roy (87), Eoin Morgan (71*), Johnny Bairstow (51), and Joe Root (40) also chipped in with the bat.
In reply, the Pakistan team was always in the game with a brilliant hundred from opener Fakhar Zaman, who fell in the 33rd over for 138 (106 balls).
But English bowlers David Willey and Liam Plunkett held their nerve under pressure, taking some key wickets, and in the process took the required run rate beyond the tourists’ reach.
With 19 needed from the final over, Chris Woakes bowled some accurate Yorkers to leave Pakistan at 361-7, 12 runs short.
England lead the 5-match series 1-0.
