After a controversial move from his home franchise, Jamaica Tallawahs, to St Lucia Stars, Chris Gayle has opted out of CPL 2020.
His decision, reported by ESPNcricinfo, comes just ahead of the tournament draft, due tomorrow.
According to the article, Gayle’s move was confirmed by the Zouks franchise, with the big hitter unavailable due to personal reasons.
It claims Gayle pointed out that due to lockdown in Jamaica, he has not been able to meet his family who are in St Kitts.
The Jamaican would have played for the Zouks, his third CPL franchise, after fallout with the Tallawahs earlier in the year.
The 2020 tournament is scheduled to take place from August 18th to September 10th, reportedly in T&T, subject to permission from government.
