India’s home series opener abandoned after persistent rain

India’s home series T20I opener against South Africa was ruined by persistent rain in Dharamsala.

The entire ground was covered, but rain continued resulting in the game to be called off at 7.48pm local time.

Rain had also made an appearance on Saturday afternoon, forcing the pitch to be covered.

A few players were expected to make their debut in this match; batsman Temba Bavuma, 25-year-old teraway Anrich Nortje and left-arm spin-bowling allrounders Bjorn Fortuin and George Linde.

Quinton de Kock will also have to wait until Wednesday to make his T20I captaincy debut.

The second match will take place at Mohali on Wednesday.

The third – and the final game of the T20I series – will be played in Bengaluru on September 22nd.
