England’s Moeen Ali is taking a short break from cricket after being dropped from the Ashes Test squad.

Mo, as he’s fondly known, has been replaced by Jack Leach in the 2nd Test against Australia after struggling in his past two matches.

He scored just 13 runs across four innings and took four wickets at a cost of 186 runs.

Now, Ali’s county team, Worcestershire says he’ll take a rest from the sport to rest before making his return to the club.

Worcestershire First Team Coach, Alex Gidman says, “Mo is spending a little time away from the middle recharging his batteries and putting in some quality practice time which he feels he needs, and we completely respect.”

Gidman continues, “Mo loves playing for Worcestershire and he gives a lift to everyone in the dressing room when he comes back and plays for us.”
