The national athletics association is extending condolences following the death of former national athlete and two-time Olympian, Dr Cliff Bertrand.
A sprinter, Dr Bertrand was part of the only West Indies Federation team which participated in the Rome Olympics in 1960.
Four years later, he represented Trinidad and Tobago at the Olympics in Tokyo.
Dr Bertrand began coaching and became the first Caribbean athlete to head coach of a major institution at the NCAA Division 1 in Track and Field and Cross Country at New York University.
Today, the athletics association says it is deeply saddened by the death of the founding member of the Arima-based Abilene Wildcats Athletic Club.
