CONCACAF has changed the qualification format for the 2022 World Cup.

It will be comprised of two parts – the first, or the Hexagonal, will be contested by the top six CONCACAF teams based on the FIFA Ranking published after June 2020.

After home and away round-robin matches between September 2020 and September 2021, the top three teams from this phase will qualify directly for the World Cup.

The other CONCACAF members, ranked 7th-35th (this currently includes 10th ranked T&T) will be divided into five groups of four and three groups of three.

After home and away round-robin matches during September, October and November 2020, the eight group winners will move on to the knockouts.

The quarters, semis and final will all be played March, June and September 2021 in a home-and-away direct elimination format.

The winner of the knockout round will play home and away playoff games against the 4th place team in the Hex to determine the CONCACAF representative for the intercontinental playoff.
