Records were smashed as England annihilated Afghanistan in today’s World Cup clash.
England made their highest World Cup score of 397/6 as Eoin Morgan made the 4th fastest century in the tournament’s history off 57 balls.
His 147 included 17 sixes – the most in a single ODI innings – and the team struck 25, the most by a team in this format.
Morgan put on 189 with Joe Root – England’s highest CWC partnership – as they made the highest ODI total seen at Old Trafford.
Leg-spinner Rashid Khan took a significant chunk of the beating going for 110 in 9 overs (the most expensive CWC figures) and conceding 11 sixes (the most conceded by a bowler in ODIs).
In reply, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid tore through the Afghanistan line up taking 3 wickets apiece.
Hashmatullah Shahidi made 76 while Rahmat Shah (46) and Asghar Afghan (44) just missed out on fifties.
