England are close to scoring 300 runs in the 1st innings of their 5th and final Ashes Test against Australia.

They’ve made it to 271/8 on the back of 50s by Joe Root (57) and Jos Buttler (64 not out).

Mitchell Marsh, who got a surprise recall to the Aussie squad for this match, has taken 4/35, while Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have taken two wickets each.

Australia have already retained the Ashes as they’re 2-1 up after 4 matches but are looking to win the series outright.

Earlier this week, Aussie skipper Tim Paine was quoted as saying, “We are very hungry – we have spoken a lot about it. We came here to win the Ashes not just retain them.”

If successful, they will be the first Australia side to win a Test series in England since 2001.
