Steve Smith believes his former CPL team-mate Nicholas Pooran will learn a lot from his recent suspension for ball tampering.
During the third One Day International against Afghanistan last Monday, television footage showed Pooran “scratching the surface of the ball with his thumbnail”.
The 24-year-old subsequently apologized and pleaded guilty and was suspended for four T20I matches.
Smith previously played alongside Pooran for Barbados Tridents, and according to ESPN Cricinfo, he believes he would gain plenty from the introspection forced by the offence and its penalty.
Smith, who was banned for a year for being complicit in a tampering scandal, said his own ordeal helped him to understand his own mental limits and the need for regular breaks to enhance his decision-making.
