Overseas talents Glenn Phillips and Asif Ali have powered Jamaica Tallawahs to victory in their CPL20 opener against St Lucia Zouks.

Phillips (44) and Ali (47 not out) were pivotal as Jamaica made light work of their chase of 159, getting there in 18.5 overs.

Speaking of chase, Roston Chase had earlier made 52 as Zouks put 158/7 on the board, batting first after losing the toss and being sent in by Rovman Powell at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.

The 5-wicket win with 7 balls to spare puts Jamaica at the top of the table after their first match – their net run rate is at 0.596.

They’re followed by Trinbago Knight Riders (NRR: 0.349) and Barbados Tridents (NRR: 0.3).

The next two in line, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors will look to secure their first points of the tournament when they face off at 5:30PM today.

Both lost their opening encounters and join the Zouks in the bottom half of the table.
