The West Indies net run rate took a significant hit as they fell by 8 wickets to England today.

Joe Root made his 2nd century of the 2019 World Cup and remained not out as England barely broke a sweat chasing of 213 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton.

The right-hander anchored the innings as Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes made 40s.

Shannon Gabriel was the only bowler to penetrate England’s defenses, taking 2/49 in 7 overs.

Earlier, the West Indies were bowled out for 212 as Nicholas Pooran made 63.

Mark Wood (3/18) and Jofra Archer (3/30) led the bowling for the hosts.
