Pakistan were defeated by 41 runs by Australia in Wednesday’s ICC World Cup encounter, leaving the latter in 2nd place.
Australia were first in to bat, and strong top order knocks took them to 307 all out as David Warner scored 107 and skipper Aaron Finch made 82.
Pacer Mohammed Amir took 5/30 in 10 overs.
In reply, Imam-ul-Haq scored 53, Mohammed Hafeez scored 46 and Wahab Riaz added 45 runs, but Pakistan were bowled out for 266 runs in 45.4 overs.
Pat Cummins led the charge, taking 3/33 while fiery pace from Mitchell Starc and some swinging deliveries from Kane Richardson got them two wickets apiece.
Pakistan now just has one win from four matches, and Australia are three from four, as they sit in second place on the World Cup standings behind New Zealand.
Tomorrow (June 13th) India will play New Zealand at Nottingham and on Friday, the West Indies battle England at Southampton.
