West Indies have lost their second T20I against England by just one run after Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd put on the highest ninth-wicket partnership by a full-member T20I nation.
England looked set for victory after reducing West Indies 98/8 in a chase of 172 but the duo took off with sixes and fours galore in a 72-run stand in just 29 balls.
However, it was agonizingly short for West Indies despite three sixes in a row by Hosein to end the innings at 170/8.
Hosein made 44 from 16 balls while Shepherd ended on 44 from 28 deliveries.
Earlier, England made 171/8 on the back of 45 from Jason Roy.
Speaking after the game, West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard said commended Hosein and Shepherd for taking the responsibility in the circumstances.
However, he lamented the fielding effort in today’s game with a couple important dropped catches.
The five-match series continues on Wednesday with the score at 1-1 after West Indies won the opening encounter.
